Even around-town bikes are priced in the thousands of dollars these days. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article2500754.ece

Meanwhile, the largest group of cyclists in my city is that of poor or working-poor men who use a bike because it's a cheap mode of transportation. Most of the advocacy I see completely ignores this group of riders.

I'd like to see us reach out to our own stepchildren in the cycling community and work with this untapped base of riders who are already convinced by circumstance that cycling is the way to go.

Again, I'm speaking about my own community. Folks may be doing this elsewhere.

Thanks, as always, for the great site!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18899086.post-12098252022505562252007-10-22T22:06:00.000-04:002007-10-22T22:06:00.000-04:00Well said Dave.Well said Dave.lemmiwinkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12897071451229534159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18899086.post-13916351468888218402007-10-19T17:53:00.000-04:002007-10-19T17:53:00.000-04:00I have been visiting your blog regularly since fin...I have been visiting your blog regularly since finding the link from Kent's Bike Blog.

Interesting food for thought forming a thoughtful trilogy with your posts on cyclist/POB's and cycling in New Zealand. The bikezone link is fascinating.
